What’s Involved?

The Summer Fan Dance 2019 is a 24km route march in the Brecon Beacons, which is infamous within the ranks of all UK Special Forces soldiers.

It is now over 50 years old and the Fan Dance is the first major hurdle on UKSF Selection and is a major indicator of whether a potential UKSF soldier has the physical and mental determination to complete it within the cut off time set by the D.S (Directing Staff).

The Summer Fan Dance route starts and finishes at The Storey Arms Outdoor Education Centre and ascends Pen y Fan which is 2,907 feet (886 m). The turn round point is at Torpantau where candidates will have to quickly turn round then return using the same route back up and over Pen y Fan via a very steep path known as Jacobs Ladder.

It is an amazing event,  stunning scenery and great support from everyone. People enter as an individual or Teams, make sure you check out our Team Discount and great to hear the stories of the charities being supported.

It is a fabulous atmosphere with huge support and a great sense of achivement.  Lots of different categories for men and women with individual prizes and the much coveted Medal and photo at the Finishing Line.

Detailed kit and clothing list will be provided when you register. Join the TFSE Community and learn from decades of experience, share your journey and challenge your self.

Run by experienced staff who help provide a true test of your ability to complete the challenge, that is the Summer Fan Dance.
